Hi. I'm new on here and I have read through many of the posts. I have enjoyed the in site many of you have brought to this forum. So, now I post with great hopes that you could lead me in the right direction for what I desire.
I am currently a stay at home mom with three children, two of which are school age. I am also pregnant with my forth child and due at the end of May. My husband is a long haul rig driver and is gone 3-6 weeks at a time. Even though his income is substantial, I am looking to bring in a little extra money. I have been interested in working from home, but I'm just not sure what is out there that I could do. I don't have the finances to invest a lot of money at the current time.
Any advice that is given would be wonderful. I don't expect income the first day I begin, but I would prefer not to have to wait a month for my first signs of it either. I would prefer something that would allow me to stay home without having to load up my children and run them all over the place.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
I am sure you read through many posts and have some idea of all of the different business opportunities out there. My opinion is that in order to be successful, you have to find something you really like. I personally chose Coastal Vacations because I love to travel and I lived overseas for 9 years so it was natural for me to find great value in the membership itself. Then the business can go from there. I also am still working full time at the moment so I was interested in an opportunity where I have a back office and everything was pretty set up for me already. However, if you are good with computers, you may want to go a different route where you can design your own website and take advantage of affiliate marketing programs. Some poeple like home parties (candles, gourmet food, etc.) but with (almost) 4 little ones, that not be for you!
The bottom line is, you really have to believe in what you are doing and make a committment that faliure is not an option. It will probably not be easy in the beginning because there is a learning curve with everything, so it is good that you understand you will not make money just because you sign up!. But you are obviously doing your homework here and I am sure you will be able to make an informed decision.

Thanks! I can say that my interests lie within crafts and my family. Those are my biggest areas in my life. I don't have much room in my house for my crafts so I just do what I can when I can. I have thought about selling the things I make, but I'm not to sure how to go about doing that either. I have thought about flea markets and consignment.
I like the idea of having my own website, but I wouldn't know where to begin with that. Are there any free sites out there where I can create my own page to sell things on?
I have looked into freelance writing, but I don't think my typing skills are up to par for many of the companies out there. I enjoy typing and love being on my computer but I'm not a master at it.
daretodream, I will send you an email with my contact information. However, this week is spring break and I have my oldest two home with me during the day. It might be best to wait until next week to speak with each other.
Please keep the advice coming. I have looked through some of the other posts and topics on here some more. I am not sure I really want to work for another company. I would much more prefer to work for myself, if that makes sense.

My sister sells her crafts on a website that is just for handmade items. It is etsy.com you could look her up her username is stircrazycrafts. She would be happy to give you some advice about selling your crafts

You could try survey sites which could bring in a few hundred dollars and writing at places like associated content and E-how which could get you up to $1,000/month within a few months of writing articles.
