 What's the best idea for us dropship newbies just starting out?
 
 1. Own website:
 
 Pros: Cheaper and more personalised
 Cons: Hell of a lot of work to establish
 
 2. eBay:
 
 Pros: Massive audience
 Cons: Store fees, item fees, final value fees, PayPal fees
 
 3. Both:
 
 How much RedBull can a human being safely consume?
 
 Just wondering what to put initial effort into.

 Seriously, though, sure it's a lot of work in the beginning, but once you've put in that hard work, it's all yours!  You own your traffic and you can monetize in a variety of ways if you like.
 
 All the profit is yours, too.  You also don't have every other seller on ebay competing with you.  Once you've got a visitor, they are looking only at YOUR products, not a bunch of different options.
 
 Your own site is much more versatile and a long term business that is yours.  Don't be scared away by the initial work involved.  There are ways to make it much simpler than you might think.

 ita also depend on what you want on yor website, how much capitals you are willing to spend.
 
 l would say if you got great product . start with ebay  as you work on your website. in the end you can use each to drive traffic

 Aplina has a great suggestion.
 
 Start with ebay and work on you site.
 
 You can use the money you make from ebay to help build your site.
 
 In the end you can use both.  If you have customer on ebay you can then direct them to your site.

 If you go your own website route you will need a lot of time to drive traffic to you site. I have just started building a website and the traffic is practically non-existent.  I am using pay per click to get traffic to my site but that can be expensive. You can sign-up at Squidoo and build a page free and just use that. (you have to find ways to drive traffic to the Squidoo page) and/or use the Squidoo page to dirive traffic to your own site.  Manual submission to search engines is a free way to drive traffic but takes time to submit to 100's of engines.

 If you already know what to sell, then starting off on eBay while you take your time in creating websites might be a good idea.  This will allow you to test which method works best, and pursue it further.

 It all depends on how much time you have, if you want to concentrate on selling use ebay, it is quick and easy to set up and lots of traffic to aim at, but with time on your hands a website, will be great for the longterm as your competition (and there prices) wont be a back button  away.

 For eBay, you need money up front to buy products at wholesale and resell at retail - unless you have your own digital product.
 
 If you start a website, you need to know how to promote that website - just throwing up a website without any knowledge of internet marketing is not going to get you very far.

 You can start with Ebay very easy with BANS (Build a Niche Store). With BANS you do not need products, store fees, paypal fees etc.
 
 If ebay interests you, then check it out.

 Both! You can have an eBay store, create some loss leads, and bring traffic to your site.
 
 You say you would need some Red Bull to do both but the truth is you can hire people at elance.com to write everything you need. You can also use PLR articles and/or ezines for your newsletters.
 
 In other words: Use eBay to draw traffic to your site. People who log onto eBay have their credit card out. It's one of the best leads you can get.
