Hello everyone, I'm currently researching part-time work from home positions. In my search I came across this site which seems to have lots of information. I am working full-time, but I'm looking for a part-time job. I just bought a dog and I don't want to leave him by myself any longer than he already is.

Can anyone tell me which are the most legit work from home companies?

I would prefer to be an employee so that way I do not have to worry about 1099.

Hi Peka,

Welcome to the forum.

From what I've read in the forum about actual part time "jobs" as opposed to business, they don't seem to pay very much for your time.

The exception seems to be transcription work. If you can get into that field, you'll have a better chance of making decent hourly wages. That is just my observation, but not based on personal experience.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

You can also try customer service, freelance writing and online teaching

Yes, try transcription. You can do that part time.

Usually, if you're part time, you're an IC. There are exceptions, but I can't think of any companies offhand that offer employee status for part timers. If I do, I'll come back and post the company names.

Thanks, I'll look into transcription and customer service. How much experience is usually required?

You usually need to be able to show them that you've gone through some type of training program in transcribing.

Why don't you want to start your own business? A 1099 really is a very small obstacle in the grand scheme of things. You like your dog, perhaps you could start a business taking care of people's dogs for them during the day while they are at work. You could do that, and then after you've got the experience, you could write your own e-book on how to start a business like that drawing from your own personal experience. Get some affiliates selling your e-book, and then you've got money passively coming in.

happywife is right - a part time online 'job' won't have much investment but will take quite awhile to build up an income whereas an online biz can yield results as soon as you get started if you are marketing a product or service - but there is usually more of a financial investment to get started in your own business.

Online or offline - a business is a business - it takes an investment of time, effort and in most cases money to get it up and running.

What a lot of people don't realize is that the biggest difference in online versus offline businesses is in the marketing. Instead of running ads in a local newspaper to get folks to stop by our store on main street - we now are marketing thru the internet to get visitors to our websites.....

More visitors - more money made - actually quite simple in concept but if it were as simple as that, everybody and his brother would be a millionaire already - lol

I just happen to be able to be a business owner working from my home now, where I can be with my kids, homeschool them and all that fun stuff..<br>

There are general transcription companies that don't require experience. You would need good English skills, of course, but no special schooling. (I do medical transcription, which does require special training.)

Try these for general transcription:

SpeakWrite http://typist.youdictate.com

Escriptionist http://www.escriptionist.com

Rapidtext http://www.rapidtext.com

The Transcription Company http://www.transcripts.net

CyberDictate http://www.cyberdictate.com

Tigerfish http://www.tigerfish.com/employment.html

Ubiqus http://www.ubiqus.com

From what I understand (I have looked into transcription in the past), it is quite difficult to get a job in it unless you have quite a bit of experience as the competition is fierce.

Just a thought...good luck with any endeavor you explore!

If you can write you can submit original content articles to Associated Content. They will pay around $5 for a well written article about 500 words long. They have been know to pay much more for articles. Xomba and Hubpages pays through adsense for clicks to your article pages. Write about hot topics and make money. You have to know how and do keyword research though.
