Hi all, I am new here!

I just found this forum in hope of some advice. I recently lost my successful sales job through anxiety...I simply couldn't cope in the office environment.

I am intelligent, I can write, do customer service and many other related skills.

However, I am in real financial trouble right now...due to no more paychecks coming my way and bills knocking at my door!

Could anyone please advise me on some ways that I can legitimately work from home to get myself straight (I don't have any money to start a business so it would have to be working for someone else I presume?)

I appreciate any advice you could offer me in this difficult time!

Many thanks,

Nick

Welcome Nick - you will find a lot of information here.

Just don't let it all overwhelm you - I personally think a person needs to consider getting into a business of some sort to make some serious money to replace an income but that usually takes a bit more capital.

Don't be afraid to ask questions - most of us have what we do from home in our sig lines..

There are writing jobs that you can get at home. Some are freelance and some aren't.

I do medical transcription, which requires training, but you can do general and/or legal transcription without any special training, as long as you have good English skills.

Try searching for wah transcription jobs. There are dozens of companies, and many hire people w/o previous transcription experience.

Good luck to you!

Hi Nick

Sorry to hear about your situation....and your financial position. Unfortunatly there are no "get rich overnight" schemes about (if there are, then let me know!! lol). A lot claim to be - but they dont exist. The only real way to earn money (be it from online marking, writing or anything else) is by real hard work. The rewards will come in the end!!

Best of luck!
Andy

I want to add: If you're looking for a "job" online, I can't really offer any personal advice since I've never done that sort of thing.

On the other hand, if you're looking into the concept of starting an online business, well that I've done. If it is a business you're looking into, I would really recommend against hoping to use it as your primary source of income at first. If you had several months living expenses saved up, maybe. The thing is, no matter how you look at it, whatever niche your business is, you'll be asking people to buy something. Nobody buys from someone who's desperate, and desperation comes through in your communication.

If you have an anxiety issue with pressure (as opposed to just office politics), you'll go crazy not knowing whether you'll be paid today, next week, or never...

Much as everyone else has already hinted at, finding an online job can be very difficult if not impossible, there are however online businesses that ARE REAL and to make money. THey usually take time to develope(the good ones at least) If you are strapped for cash I would recommend going the traditional job route if only for another year or so till you can find a business you like and get it off the ground.

This is a great place to get started

Then what about applying for a grant?I'm getting emails about applying for grants, would starting a online business qualify one for a grant?

Nick, do you have any amount of savings stored up to tide you over for awhile? For a month or two? If you don't, then don't feel bad because most of us don't.

I assume you've filed for unemployment already? It amazes me how many people pass that up. Also, you can contact your credit card companies and even utility companies and let them know that you just lost your job and they can work out some special payment arrangements for you until you can get back on your feet. Don't forget all of these things! Not only do you want to start generating income, but you might as well make your financial burden as light as you possibly can.

Also, if you attend church anywhere, you might be able to get some assistance from their benevolent fund. It may not be much, but every little bit helps.

Also, since you said it was anxiety related, you could schedule an appointment with your doctor to see about being able to file for some sort of disability income - I'm very serious about this. Don't overlook this! It may sound silly, but it is probably more true than you realize.

We'll be interested in hearing how you are doing. Please keep in touch OK?

I know how you feel. I have a hard time in a lot of work invironments. So many workplaces are full of fear. a lot of competition instead of teamwork. Sales is especially cutthroat. Since you have experience in sales you might check out the Clickbank affiliate program. There's a free online couse in how to get started with Clickbank and affiliate marketing called Bum Marketing. Like the name implies you never need to invest a dime if you don't want to. There are lots of ways to promote ebooks and such for free on the web. The Bum Marketing info is free to but the guy will try to sell you stuff to help. Some is good but you don't need any of it. Just google Clickbank and Bum Marketing if you are interested.

Hello Nick,

I know how you feel too, even with a job that only just keeps the wolf from the door. Like some of the others have said making money online is not something that you can do in the short-term as it takes time and determination as well as patience. You don't need money to make money though if you go the affiliate marketing route. There are some programmes which guide you in this direction and most utilise Clickbank or others that market ebooks.
Good luck with your endeavours.
