Aloha!

I left my job in April 2007 due to stressful situations at work and because I was 3 months pregnant, I didn't want to do any harm to my unborn child. I've made some pretty bad choices when it comes to money and I now find myself desperate for a work-at-home opportunity. I can't go back to work yet because I have a 2-year old and a 5-month old and sending them to daycare would take up my entire paycheck.

I've been searching since April of last year and still haven't found a business that I can trust enough to register with and am afraid to try the different business ads out there.

Anyone have any advice on what I can do? I'm not looking to get rich at this point. Just basically to make enough to pay the bills and put food on the table. My husband works, but his paycheck is just enough to pay for rent, utilities and some food. Some days are promising, yet other days I break down and cry.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate them. I hope I don't sound pathetic. I just wanted to state my situation and see what's really legit out there.

Thank you for reading my post, and I appreciate your suggestions.

Hi kehk05,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry about your troubles.

Get the education first. Understand that it takes several months just to get the basic idea of what is involved. Then it takes several more months of experimentation. There is no short cut.

Don't plan on seeing any money for a while. However, if you hang in there and you can write reasonably well, you will almost certainly make it. Slow and steady wins the race. Be patient and committed.

Some popular programs around here are Site Build It, Wealthy Affiliate, Profit Lance, and Honest Riches. I think that you should view some of the threads on these programs. After that, you can ask questions about one or more programs.

Then you should read them all the way through before trying to make any money. Plan your strategy. Carefully launch it. Tweak it and so on.

When you feel you know what you are doing, you can also try some of the free sites out there. There are several good sites such as Hub Pages, blogs, Squidoo, etc. You can play around with those for free while learning valuable lessons and perhaps making some money while you're at it. Then you can host your own site when you feel quite experienced.

That's it in a nut shell. I'd recommend that to almost everyone.

In the mean time, you or your husband will have to increase your income the good old fashion way - more hours at a regular job. Making money online takes time. There is no rushing it.

You can do transcription at home. You just need good English skills and a decent typing rate.

There are lots of transcription companies. They aren't all hiring at the same time, so try sending your resume to as many as you can find. Here's a bunch for you to start with (a few of the links may be hinky, as this list has been around for a while):

SpeakWrite http://typist.youdictate.com

Escriptionist http://www.escriptionist.com

Rapidtext http://www.rapidtext.com

The Transcription Company http://www.transcripts.net

CyberDictate http://www.cyberdictate.com

Purple Shark http://www.purpleshark.com

Tigerfish http://www.tigerfish.com/employment.html

Ubiqus http://www.ubiqus.com

Hi kehk,
There are many ways of making money online. Do you have any start up money? Or do you need to find a free way to start? For me it was the latter, that's why I went into article marketing.

Hi kehk......I understand where you're coming from. It's very stressful when there's financial issues, but you can find a legitimate business to help you become financially secure. You just have to check out different opportunities, see what peaks your interest. I can tell you that unless the opportunity you get into shows you HOW to market, it will be a slow go. The business I work at home now has step by step video tutorials and shows you exactly what to do. They have videos on free methods and paid, so it's great if you have a marketing budget or not. Either way, if you do what you're taught you can make money rather quickly. Once you learn these marketing strategies, you will always be able to make money online marketing anything.

You got some great advice so far and mtathome gave you several companies to look into for transcription. You just have to find something that works for you and your family.

I wish you the best!

If you can spend some time writing, I would recommend taking a look at associatedcontent.com. You can get paid for articles you write for them and you even have the potential to earn performance based "residual" payments. It's nothing that will make you rich, but it is something that you can do right now.

I think to say Associated Content won't make you rich is an understatement. They were the first money I made online but article marketing is by far more lucrative. AC is pittance compare to what I make with AM.
