I've joined an online job site and am finding myself getting more work than I can shake a stick at!! I don't want to spend ALL my time working (I homeschool my 8 year old and have a busy 2 year old), but I hate to turn down work as well. It'd be so nice to just have one client that I could do maybe 20 hours/wk. worth of work for and be paid a decent amount!
What do you do when you find yourself saying YES to every opportunity because you need the money? Is it worth it to say no?

Capagirl,
In my opinion, if you pick the right opportunity you only need one.
You shouldnt have to belong to so many different opportunities unless they are not satisfying you income needs.

I think your opportunity cost for saying a simple no to a client is better than stressing yourself out trying to get everything accomplished. I think you should consider enjoying life, especially with your kids at a good age. You really have to weigh the pros and cons.

My main online job is similar and I have turned down work recently due to lack of time and it just not being worth the paycheck at the end of the month for all the time I spend. Your time is worth money and you only have one chance to watch your kids grow up. If you can't fit everything in after that, then it needs to be passed up for work that does.

There definitely needs to be a balance. I have 3 boys and they're home with me in the summer, but I do my work online usually later at night or if I have some time because they're with friends or my husband has them out doing something. As far as turning things down......I think if you're questioning if you're taking on too much, then you probably are. It's ok to say no to somethings. I'm not sure what kind of jobs you do, but could you work them early in the morning or later at night? I only work online a couple hours per day, so many things are on autopilot that it works very well for me and I don't feel like I'm shorting my family. Good luck to you!

Are you talking about one job or about a variety of different things you have gotten into?
I guess what I would do is figure out what I am getting paid an hour - if you are building a business, it is okay to put in a lot of time those first weeks or months but if you are simply working a 'job' for someone else and getting paid by the piece... I wouldn't work for ten cents an hour which is a bit exagerated... but sometimes that is almost what it boils down to!

l do understand . some time it hard to say no when you need money but spending time with your kids is important. l homeschool my 1year son and a friends. l do my work mostly at night and when they are having a nap during the day. am building my website. its did take alot of my time but now. am cutting down on the time

It's about time-management. Getting a second income while work from work using your computer is not easy task.
Determination and persistance is key to success. If you are talking about a job, perhaps you would like to find other sources where you can work at your own pace. If you're talking about your own online business, it takes time to grow.
We all have a list of problems at hand while working online, it's about how you manage it. =)
