To answer your question, I'd say it really depends - a lot of people like to work from home - it all depends on what situation they are in...

I'd say people that do not enjoy the public working, often stressful, environment. I, on the other hand, have always enjoyed computers. Somewhere along the line, I decided to see if I could make money through them as well.

I'm new to IM (just a few months now)....and my opinions are mixed on it. I actually would not have gotten into this at all if I had been able to find a real job for the summer (I'm a student). That didn't work out though, so now I am trying to do affiliate marketing. I work very hard and don't make steady success yet, but I do think working at home in my own time is much more enjoyable than flipping burgers!

As someone who actually does work from home, I would say that I am the one who prefers to work here most
It sure beats the days of climbing 30 foot ladders, comming home covered in paint, and drinking Keystone...lol.
There is nothing better than to be able to set your own hours, be with your family, walk outside and do some yard work, come back in and work some more.
In general, I think that those who prefer to work at home are the ones who dont like working for another man/woman and enjoy their freedom.

Working from home is perfect in so many ways , so long as you're disciplined, passionate about what you do, and a self-starter. From personal experience, I wouldn't even consider the corporate world. Once you're self employed, there is really no going back.

It's great helping others in achieving their dreams and goals. There is immense satisfaction in that.

I think anyone who has creativity, persistence, intelligence, and initiative. In other words, people who actually are able to and who enjoy "being their own boss" and who don't need and rely on orders.

Also, these types of people have to be somewhat willing for the risks involved. Even if it is just a willingness to spend a couple hours of your own time every night learning how to earn money online, knowing that it isn't necessarily going to pay off within the first 24 hours. And knowing that you might have to spend some time on trial and error.

Basically people who want freedom and are willing to experience some adventure, work, and persistence, in order to get it.

Working at home works best if you are an introvert and disciplined. For a person who likes meeting people, working at home may be boring.

As a Mom - we ALWAYS work at home, we just discovered some ways to get paid to work while we are at home - lol

I get a kick out of saying that I 'work at home'... duh, what Mom doesn't?!

My hubby really likes it if I make lots of money from home as then he can go play - he doesn't mind the work at home thing but it doesn't click as well for him.

If you have a partner that likes to socialize and brag on you - buy them hats and t-shirts to wear that advertize what you do and they can be your walking billboard, at least.

I am going to get one that says "My Wife Works at Home - She Makes it - I Spend it"

I see so many moms who want to work at home to be with their kids. There are tons of "wah mom" websites for that very reason.

I hate working from home. To me, it's a terribly boring life. I much more prefer to get up and go somewhere. When my affiliate marketing allows me to replace my "regular" job, I'm going to have to have a set schedule that gets me out of the house every day or I'll go crazy.

I love working from home and of course my first job is being mom to 6! LOL

Working from home lets me have the flexibility that I need raising a family. I also homeschool, so it's very important to be flexible with my time.

It's the best feeling when I can take care of my family and help my husband financially!

That's hilarious!!
Love it!

think I'll get one for every member of my family!

As a work at home mom, I prefer setting my own schedule and writing my own check.

I was never good at punching a clock anyway.

I can't wait to be able to work from home full-time. I am a teacher and I get a taste of the work from home life each summer. Since I have started my business I imagine my summer lasting all year long and doing what I am currently doing and its the best feeling ever!

I'd give anything to have it happen tomorrow!

Take care,

Laura

I've always wanted to work from home but it's very hard to step out from your comfort zone. I've been in the work force since i was 16 years old, (now 43) and I've managed to support myself very well through the years. It's hard to give up an income that has been steady, to try something new, especially when you have a family to support. I chose to give up my career with the birth of my son. My husband and i decided that i was to be a stay at home mom, while he continued to work. Well, that worked for a while, but at about the six month mark i felt like i needed to do something to pull my weight, so to speak. I was also adamant about being home and raising my son. The only option was to find a Work From Home business. I have to tell you that i absoulutely LOVE IT!!!! I love being able to make my own schedule, work when i want, and be able to be a mom. Day care was not an option for me. I'm not knocking it, i just wanted to find another way. I will tell you, it takes a lot of time and dedication, and it's easier to get sidetracked at home, but the benefits are worth it. This is coming from someone who was NEVER home!!!!!! With Corporate America looking pretty dim these days with what's going on with the economy, i think Home Based Businesses are the wave of the future!

I am just starting to work at home and love it! I have been in Corporate America in management for a large company since I got out of college for 25 years.

My kids are in college, but I am certainly enjoying being able to choose when I exercise, go out for entertainment or to run errands or to work.

Of course lately I've been doing 3 way calls and assisting others in my business so much, I'm on a schedule that can start in the morning and run into the night with various time zones. However, I LOVE what I do, so it does not feel like work. Go figure!!!

I am still quite nervous about health ins., etc. but at some point, we have to take the leap.

Also, I enjoyed a post Vishal made in another section regarding the need to balance life and not spend too much time working. That is what I have to make sure I accomplish. But between the kids visiting and our good friends I'm sure we can accomplish that!!!

Another thing I do not miss at all is rush hour traffic!!! The traffic is horrible here in Tampa, FL.

I struggled with the Health Insurance dilema myself. It's hard to compete with the "Corporate Pans" however i would like to shed a little light on the subject.

I've been on both sides of the fence and here's how i look at it:
Think catastrophic. When i went to apply for personal health insurance i went with low premiums and no co-pay. I wanted to be covered just in case, God forbid, something very serious happened, because THAT as you know can wipe you out financially. With that being said, i have good coverage, i might have to come out of pocket for a little expense, but in the long run it makes sense.
Humana has GREAT and very reasonable Florida plans, (i see you are from Tampa).

Hoped this info helped you!

WOW Mom! You're a mother of 6, you homeschool, AND you work from home and somehow you juggle it all and make it work. Congratulations! That's one of the coolest success stories ever. So if you can do that, then how much should someone be able to do that doesn't have any kids at all? But, you are probably much more focused with your time...

I am also impressed with the mother of 6. Way to go. I feel like I am going to die sometimes working from home with 2 kids. And they go to school!!

My other half will work from home if its bad weather, but he can do that being an IT guy. If we lose power, we are both out of work for the day (yay for snow days).

Put it this way.....I don't think I know too many people who'd say they actually ENJOY the rat race, lol. Who wouldn't like to sleep in every morning, not to mention saving all that money on fuel?

'Working from home' certainly doesn't mean sitting in your house all day, lol.
