I was just wondering if anyone knows how to consistenly make money with adsense. When I first started my ECPM's were over $100 a day but then they drop down to around $2 a day after that. Are the averages always going to be down and if so are there better places to get advertisments? Any help would be great on a program that works!

Hi Jenny,

Either Google wanted to get you excited at first or you changed something on the page. Try reversing some changes you've recently made if you like.

You want high relevance, high CTR, original content, focus on your main keyword phrase/phrases, and similar.

Indirectly, you want good writing, trust from your visitors, and value for your visitors. That in itself will increase CTR, thus improving your quality score.

It helps to use negatives to avoid low paying adverts.

Make sure you disallow foul language, .org as they hardly ever pay anything via clicks...though there may be exceptions depending upon your page topics, and similar use of negation (use of negatives placed to disallow certain types of ads - usually offensive or low paying).

Good placement is critical. See the way Vishal has it laid out. That's a great example of good placement and blending.

You'll want your main moneymaker ad groups above the fold of each page and it should blend well with the rest of the text.

Don't bother with putting ad groups at the bottom of a page. It's a poor use of virtual real estate.

Another thing to consider is ad rotation. Folks become numb to the same old ads every time they visit a given page.

Hopefully that will help you a bit,

Jenny,

I just thought of something else. Around the time you speak of, Google was in the process of updating some parameters with Adwords and some other things that are related.

They spent the majority of the day working on it. I remember raising the issue here on the forum.

I do know that it affected the Adsense readouts, which skewed many of them to around 100% for a day or more. Then they adjusted it so that it gave proper readouts.

That may be what you experienced.

New sites don't make much from Adsense or similar ad servers. The new sites just don't get much traffic so they get relatively few clicks.

You've barely had your site up. I think you will be disappointed if you expect it to pay out much from ads for the first several months. That's unlikely to happen unless you figure out a way to drive a ton of targeted traffic to your site. I wouldn't count on that either.

Making money takes time. It takes time to learn the ropes as well. I suggest a great deal of patience. Just continue making content and creating back links. Don't focus too heavily on income for a while.

Don't believe the guru hype that you may have read. They are full of bull. They love to play on emotions. They aren't being truthful when they say that you should expect a ton of income in a short time.

Happywife,

Your sites in your sig file are another great example of ideal formatting, ad group placement, and blending in regards to Adsense.

Nicely done :)

Thank you, kind sir.

I've had good training and instruction. I just follow directions from SBI.

There ought to be more genuinely honest and helpful resources (like your Squidoo tricks) for those who want to learn and a lot less hype and rubbish.

I'm grateful I landed in a good place. The Lord has blessed me.

Thanks again for the encouraging words,
Angie
