I'm just wondering what the average success rate out there is for buying leads. I have been advised by my upline NOT to buy them, but is there anyone that has had alot of success with this?

Part of the reason I ask is that I live 40 minutes from anywhere, and only go to town once a week. It's hard to generate new leads and friendships in one day while I'm packing around my toddlers....but I'm really commited to making this work!!

Maybe your upline has had a bad experience with leads from a particular source. Not all purchased leads are created equal.

Did they give you an alternative? I could see a potential problem trying to build a business that relies on relationships when you are so far removed.

I just purchased a course on contacting professionals created by Todd Falcone. He basically calls professionals cold and invites them to his website or mails them info. You might want to take a look. His website is ToddFalcone.com. He also has podcasts that give you some examples of what he does. Hope this helps.

Depends on the source of the leads

The best lead is always the self-generated one. Purchased leads, in my experience, are seldom of good quality, at best. Utilize free advertising sources to begin building your list. Or you could pay for an ad in a targeted publication, such as an ezine.

Targeted traffic is vital.

gojade,
I have worked leads and although it is way more fun to get back with people that have responded to your very own landing page - if you have a good lead source, it's definitely a way that can work for you..

Let me know if you want some lead sources and I can shoot a few your way that I have used.

I like your landing page, by the way. Did you create that yourself?

Thanks Mountainmom5...I used a template from ezleadcapture.com, but everything on it is my own

You must be busy with 5 kids AND working at home! How do you do it? I have two toddlers and I go crazy!

If you have lead sources that you use, that would be great. I love my landing page, but I have a hard time getting serious inquiries...even though it says that on the page...so it ends up costing me alot to advertize it!

I use a variety of splash pages to generate opt-in leads. Purchased leads are ok to jumpstart a campaign but self generated leads are more responsive. Focus on capturing leads with your autoresponder and splash pages.

Buying leads when you first start is a hard way to go unless you are really good on the phone. But with practice a lot of people do use leads successfully. You do have to be careful what leads you buy. Normally the company that you are with has excellent resources on where to buy leads.

I think it is a good Idea to start buying some inexpensive leads to learn to be good on the phone. I spent over 15k alone on buying leads last year. I also tested a lot of other things as well like ad words, direct mail, email marketing, voice broadcasting and tracked my results with each. Out of all of that I got the worst return on investment form the leads. I think they are a great way to learn the word tracks and to get comfortable but they should not be a long term strategy.

I get leads from writing articles and submitting them to many article sites. Most of my articles appear on the front page of Google and other search engines. I just put a link to my website at the bottom of my article. These leads are quality targeted leads because they type in your keywords to your articles to find what they are looking for and these articles also end up on other people's site with your link included. Because my business is free to join, I get a lot more leads than I did with the ones that wasn't free and make a lot more money.

Here's what Michael Dlouhy does and teaches:

He is a full time network marketer who is currently building the largest team with our company. He has never bought leads. He has never made a list of his friends and family.

He has always generated his own leads using the internet and the telephone. He has never paid for a lead in all the 31 months it took him to build from nothing to #1 Presidential level in our company.

We are currently building our own team with the same network marketing company that Michael is in using his methods which, of course, do not require us to buy leads.

Don't ever spend money on buying leads...have thrown away 50 bucks already...

Instead learn how to attract the right prospects to you by adding value to people's lives...
