I have lots of articles "Out There" and I am thinking of putting those articles on my site as well. Is there any negative side to doing this? I have been at this a while but I would just like some input from anyone experienced in this matter.

I'm not sure about the negative sides, but I know for sure that search engines love unique content, which your content isn't when you have your articles exposed on two sites.

I think this depends on your plan and what you want to get from those articles. If you want some search engine traffic, it might be hard. But if you want to make money from Adsense, then this might be a good idea.

Anyway, I always write the contents myself or re-write the content.

If by "negative side" you are alluding to penalties from duplicate content, there's nothing to be concerned about. That only becomes an issue if you have identical articles published on the same site. But, if it'll help you to sleep better at night, you can slightly alter the articles you put on your site.

I've been writing and publishing articles through article distribution sites since 2005. The identical articles (in most cases) are also available on my website, and visitors have permission to re-publish them "as is" so long as they include the resource box.

I haven't experienced any negatives to date!

Hi CupBucket,

Here's how Google operates...

Google knows which page and site the article first appears on. If the article is destined to get indexed, it will be listed as belonging to that page.

Google will know if another site displays the exact same article and if it is optimized for the same key phrases. It won't list the exact same article under the same key phrases more than once.

There's more to it but I'll just cut to the advice part...

Rewrite the article for your site. You can summarize it and comment on the original article or you can rewrite the whole thing and expand on it to create a larger article.

Google loves original content and you'll want to get indexed.

Good luck,

Rewriting the article is the best option.

Why not write the original for your site first and then send it to EA or whatever article submission you choose. I have noticed that duplicates of my articles wind up on other peoples blogs anyway why not do it myself? Anyone have advice on this?

BTW, Hi NS! Good advice as usual.

Hi Sonni,

Thanx.

Sonni:
Why not write the original for your site first and then send it to EA or whatever article submission you choose.

You have it right. But when you submit to EA, write a short version of it and alter the wording slightly. On EA add a "To read the rest of this article visit whateversite.com"

The teaser may give them reason to visit your site, but a link to the full version will give them yet another reason to visit your site.

How goes the blogs? I just took a peak at moonbow. I have a couple tips for you. You might write an entry for October before the month expires. You might also consider tagging your entries.

I like the appearance, your entries are quite interesting and you're a good writer. It "feels" like you enjoy writing about the topics. Keep up the good work.

NS,
I have neglected Moonbowchaser and everything else due to working on a new blog only this time I did the install myself and set up all the thingys. Such as plugins, widgets, settings etc. it took forever and I put it on a sub-domain. Trying to learn the techi side of all this, no small task for me as I am totally clueless.

Thank you though for the compliment on my writing as I do enjoy writing about those topics. And thanks for the tips. BTW, are you going to dress up for Halloween in Star Wars gear?

Hi Sonni,

Hey, that's a great reason to put Moonbowchaser on hold! Glad to hear you are taking the time to figure out the techie side of things. That's what excelling is all about! Keep doing what you're doing.

Few understand the importance of your methodology and fewer still take it up and stick with it. Yeees, feel the force floooow.

Hee, luckily I don't need a costume. I'll just go as is - same as my avatar pic. I look a little different because I am a member of the Whill race. I have recently returned from self-exile where I was living on Dagobah, which is a planet in a distant galaxy. I may look a little different from humans but don't let my appearance startle you :)

Will you be dressing up this Halloween? Hey, you could go as an Online Marketer, hee :)

NS,
An online marketer, now that's really scary. If people only knew what goes on in the name of legit business hmmm... Next time I go to Dagobah I'll look you up. I promise I won't wear my IM costume.

I have to say I do not really see a down side to it. It is your site, they are your articles, it seem to me like a decent way to get a concentrated target audience to your products. I would love it if you wouldn't mind sharing how well this converts for you if you actually decide to do it.

I beg to disagree about google not listing the same article twice. I have submitted many articles to different directories without making any changes and I see them listed on google just the same. Google is always changing their rules, but for now, it is OK.

besthomebiz, i am inclined to fully agree with your comments,at present there seems to be no penalties for duplication although i have been informed that if a competitor writes a unique article on the same product or keyword ...there is a strong possibility they will rank higher in the engines. Also by changing only the title of the article i have found this seems to do the trick.

I wrote 6 unique articles and submitted them to iSnare.com all at one time. I paid the $2 each for them to distribute them to their partners. It took 10 days for my articles to be approved. 2 days after approval 4 of the 6 were on the first page of Google at position 2.

My exact articles were also on the first page listed with articledashboard.com position 6-10. AD must be partnered with IS.

On one article it was listed 3 times... with the above two and a blog posting to boot!

So much for worrying about duplicate content!
