Well I wanted to know how long did it take everyone to get a lot of traffic on their site? I just started my site last month and it averages about 50 hits a day and I have done everything like including backlinks, free ads, adsense, craigslist, etc. Please let me know how long it took until your site build a lot of traffic everyday.

Hi Louidam1,

Fifty hits a day for a site that is approximately one month old is quite good. It sounds like you have engaged in many of the classic tactics that we use to drive traffic to our site.

You can also comment in related blogs and forums - use back links.

You can write articles, submit a press release, create a Squidoo lens, etc...all of the things we keep repeating here on the forum.

I wouldn't spend too much time on that though. For the most part, I'd work on creating quality content - make it buzz-worthy to draw natural back links and traffic.

Think long term and try not to spend too much time gaming the system beyond creating a few back links yourself. It's not quite as mechanical as most seem to believe.

Good luck,

One thing you might want to look into is how many keyword phrases people are typing in each day. I've had some sites that appear to have a lot of hits each month, but many of these hits are from robots - but the numbers are different when I checked the actual keywords people are typing in to find the sites.

Hi Louida,

I visited your squidoo.com/cashcrate221 lens. I favorited your lens (I'm the electric guitar), Gave it five stars, and joined your fanclub on your lensmaster page:

Great start on your lens. You can read about Squidoo right here on the forum: http://www.work-at-home-forum.com/35_0.html

You'll really like Squidoo. It's very addictive. Just ask MountainMom. She's creating lenses at the speed of light and having a blast.

Have fun

lol - did I hear my name? Yes Newbie Shield is right - Squidoo is addictive and is one of the best ways to get traffic to your site... since I use Squidoo I finally show some money in Clickbank and also made other bucks with affiliates - fun stuff!

By the way, I starred your site and also joined your fans club...I have so many Squidoo lenses anymore and I signed into the wrong one so I am the Solar Sun on there...

Squidoo for sure should be one of the main traffic sources for many of us. It should be one of several... The other ones could be Craigslist, Hubpages, video marketing and blogs. The trick is to get a constant flow of traffic from several different sources.

I just bought a domain a earlier this week (Dec. 14th). Here's how many hits I've gotten:

DATE HITS
Thu Dec 18 ==== 82
Wed Dec 17 ==== 127
Tue Dec 16 ==== 90
Mon Dec 15 ==== 32
Sun Dec 14 ==== 21

I'm about to give up, though. Seems so stressful!

Where are these 'hits' or traffic coming from? That's a lot of traffic for a brand new site. How much were expecting?

Are the visitors targeted traffic? That's the kind of traffic you want. Unless you have a huge subscriber list that you are sending out info. to about a new site (or paying for PPC), it's unusual to get as much traffic as you are getting if it IS targeted traffic.

If you've just signed up to a traffic exchange, that's a whole different ballgame. Traffic exchange traffic is pretty useless apart from possible list building (my opinion).

If you're ready to quit after one week, this may not be the field you should be in. It usually takes months to get something established, so don't get discouraged so soon.

Hang in there and keep learning,
Angie
