GO TO YOUR LOCAL BOOKSTORE!

I realize that this may not be an option for people in many countries, but if you live in the US, try looking for a work from home book at your local bookstore.

I was in Barnes & Noble the a few nights ago, and I was able to find about 5 books which gave 50-200 work from home ideas, most of which had relatively low start up costs.

This can help generate some great ideas for those of you, who, unlike me, do not want to be an internet marketing guru when you "grow up"

Oh yeah - you don't even have to purchase the book to get the ideas - just read through the table of contents or index of the book until you see something that stands out, and then flip to the appropriate section of the book to learn more. Just make sure to purchase a coffee or soda as a way of saying thanks to the bookstore for letting you look through their books for free

Man, it wass really hard not to say "ebook" in this post!

Hello all. Just introducing myself to this forum. I do plan on coming back to learn all I can. This is my first day and not quite familiar with how this works.

More later.

Greetings:

I'm so new to the work-at-home industry that I squeak when I post!

There is no doubt in my mind that money can be made online, but the amount of information available to help you learn how to do it is absolutely overwhelming.

The good news seems to be that it is like fishing in a lake full of fish. Just throw a line in and wait for that first bite. You will get a bite for the very simple reason that it is statistically impossible to not get at least one nibble.

Still there has to be a simpler way to weed out all the clutter and home in on that unique money-making formula that will work for anyone who has the patience to diligently apply it.

I have a few ideas but because I haven't made any money yet, I hesitate to post those ideas at this time.

Anyone else out there from Ontario?

No specific authors...but in about 15 minutes at the book store, you will have your hands on 5 books - and you can very quickly skim the contents of these books for ideas. I'd say in about an hour at the bookstore, you could EASILY have 20-30 ideas which you might have a hard time finding online.

You wouldn't think such a low tech method would be effective in this day and age, but trust me, it is!

I'm honored that you asked me to mentor you, but there literally are a thousand things to learn - and I'm just one man. I learned most of what I know by reading different ebooks on intenet marketing.

If you are looking for mentors, I would recommend joining Wealthy Affiliate - they have a great forum where you can get all of your questions answered, and you can also get personal support through the sites owners, Carson and Kyle.

In fact, when I have questions, I will usually send Carson or Kyle a "PM", or I will post a question in the Wealthy Affiliate forum.

When working from home a lot of the time owning a website is involved. Whether you choose to become an affiliate marketer or using adsense either way having a website is useful.

These are the two most popular ways to make money from home/online but to really boost the cash it is down to the traffic you can divert to these websites.

There are several ways to divert traffic
1.using a blog
2.goggle adwords
3.posting in forums.
and many more

so if you decide you want to work at home and you plan to use a website with affiliates and adsense then by all means concentrate on the contents but always keep in mind it is traffic that earns you the cash, because without people you won't get the the click through rate you wish for.

I'm assuming you're talking about Google AdWords traffic since you mentioned CTR. I understand what you're trying to say, but it's a little scary to say that "Traffic will earn you cash."

In fact if you don't attract the correct traffic, then that "Traffic" will only give you a big Google bill at the end of the month with NO cash in your pocket (believe me).

I think the way to better your chances of success with Google AdWords and your CTR is to make a conscious effort to get "Qualified Traffic" to your website and not just anyone who will click on your ad. You'll have a better shot at converting "qualified traffic" than you will chasing after un-targeted hits.

I mean it was cool at first when you start to see a ton of visitors clicking on your ad and visiting your website. But when you don't see any conversions, then that traffic is not so exciting.

Getting traffic to pay off is definitely a science and a craft and one that should constantly be studied. I wish it were that simple just to get traffic and "wah lah", you've got money!

I don't mean to be a scrooge about this subject but I've personally (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) gone down that road assuming that getting tons of traffic will equal cash. And that's simply not the case. It goes way deeper than that.

I understand what you are saying and taking a step back i can see in the long run it will cause problems. Do you have any tips to develop the science of traffic because in my case i am clearly not as wise as you on the subject.

Hi Hemjoe-

I'm not as wise as you may think. I've just had a little experience with this area and I'm simply sharing from that. I'm also still learning day by day about how to get qualified traffic through PPC advertising campaigns such as Google AdWords.

Some things I've learned is:

1) It all starts with choosing the right keywords to bid on.

2) Writing a good ad that will "pre-qualify" someone before they decide to click.

3) Making sure that you have a strong message-to-market connection with your landing page once they do click. (Basically you're ad should be very similar to what you're landing page is saying) There's nothing more annoying to the your prospects then reading an ad, clicking on it, and taken to a page that doesn't match what they were reading about. If you're selling socks don't send them to your homepage, take them to your sock page.

4) A quick loading page. Prospects only wait on an average of about (I think) 6-8 seconds or so before they leave.

Anyhow, that was just a few things to cover on the subject of getting qualified traffic and improving the "experience" of what a prospect will go through! There are many other things you can do to help in the sales process. And I'm learning all the time.

At the end of the day you want to make sure you're not spending your advertising dollars on meaningless click traffic that is a waste of your time and money. But rather go after people that may actually buy something from you.

Hope that helps a little Hemjoe. And let me know if you have a few things up your sleeve also, which I can learn from.

If i learn anything and it is worth telling you about don't worry i will let you know, just going to ask two questions. How effective has the adwords been to you in getting traffic? and if you don't mind me asking on average how much are you paying out because this is what i am worried about. Thanks for the tips so far

I think AdWords is a very effective tool in getting traffic to your online business. There are a lot of debates about PPC advertising, but I've personally been using it to get the word out.

Of course I mentioned that there are nuances that need to be understood before you jump in. So make sure you do your homework before you decide to put your first ad up.

(Remember.... qualified traffic is what you want)

As far as investment... well I think that you'll be happy to know that you can choose EXACTLY the amount you want to spend on a daily or monthly basis. You decide what you want to pay for a single click. So you basically have complete control of what you are willing to invest.

And "pausing" and "activating" your ads are at your personal disposal, which is another great way to curb your spending.

I can suggest some really good educational material for you to read. Just contact me. You can find my email by clicking the "member" text under my name.

I just want to throw out a thought here...When I personally was talking about affiliate marketing I was NOT talking about the whole google adwords, pay for advertising type of thing. I am sure that it works for some people but I have seen way too many people fall for the hype that it is an easy way to make money and then end up losing a ton of money. I was talking about the traditional way of affiliate advertising.. Set up a good useful website, place your affiliate links on your website and then promote your website.

Blogging has also turned out to be a great form of internet marketing when it comes to being an affiliate. Blogging gives you a few different ways to make money.

You can use a blog to make money with affiliate programs and with Google Adsense, which is when Google pays you whenever someone clicks on ads from your website.

Another way to make money from home is;
I have seen on differnet forums a help wanted/job wanted section.
You can use any skills you may already have to earn pretty easy money.
From writing articles for marketers to building campaigns and websites.
Typically you would write 350-500 word articles based upon internet research using a certian keyword phrase.
Just a thought....

Hi,

I came across an internet marketing company when i was looking for ideas on earning extra money from home. It is a home based business opportunity and after 6 months i am now earning good money.
I get regular one to one training over the phone 2-3 times a week. Like most people, i was sceptical at first but as there was a phone number i could call and speak to a member of the team, i felt more comfortable. I am so glad i made the call - i've never looked back and can now work around my children.
