Be very careful on who you hire to do your SEO as there are a lot of people out there who sell SEO services but have no idea what their doing.... This can cause your website to get De-indexed from Google completely...
I agree that SEO is worth learning to do yourself. It makes you more aware of the content you are sharing. Hiring a pro is fine if you have a real business and no time. These days a FaceBook page plus a website/blog work fine. It comes down to content and proper use of keywords. Do that right and backlinks come more naturally. You can hire writers for your blog or FaceBook. Keep your audience engaged with daily updates. Don't overwhelm them with junk, quality over quantity.
Thanks for the advise and encouragement, I have now started to learn SEO and apply what I have learned to my website, I found lots of training videos online so I am busy working it all out. Thanks to everyone who also replied.
Another advantage to learning SEO, it's a marketable skill. Not hard to master but people pay to have it done for them. Many work at home folks just do SEO for local businesses. Daily FaceBook postings for a fee is quick easy money. Amazing results can be had with just 5 mins. a day. So many ways to make SEO pay it's worth learning. Keywords come naturally for some people. Not abusing them is a little harder! Just the right amount is key.
One more question please. Is it better to built all your back links to your homepage or do I spread the back links over the important pages of my website?
Spread the links. It looks more natural. Repetition is one of the biggest killers in SEO. Vary the keywords using "long tail" descriptions. It get's more pages indexed for different terms. Also, don't neglect the power of pictures. They make a great gateway to content. "A picture is worth a thousand words." Be sure to use tags in the pictures. Google & FaceBook love pictures. (Videos too of course.) Post them on your site, then use a share button to post it to Facebook. I have the "AddThis" toolbar in my browser so I can share any page. But you should have sharing buttons on your site for others to use. A FaceBook feed on your website lets you showcase both at once. It also encourages "Likes" to your FaceBook page from readers. FaceBook is like a daily feed vs. a website that is more static. Keep FaceBook entertaining and your site informative. The object is to maintain contact with your visitors. Don't be a salesman or post links on FaceBook. Let the sharing buttons create the links back. Works like a charm and FaceBook likes it.
Hi Business Ideas Do you really want to spend money to achieve Google page one? I suppose if you have spare cash, or are in a rush it's a good idea. However in the last few weeks I have achieved 14 entries on page 1 including the business name - you can check it out - How did I do it, A good clean website that say's clearly what it's about and Article writing. I've been researching article writing, and have put a report on my website if you want some ideas. Best Wishes - hope it helps.
That really is great advice, and so simply put. My experience has brought about many over paid SEO services, most of which used "fancy terms" as a method to show how smart they are. What I have come to learn is that making money online absolutely results from following the steps you mentioned here. "Keep it simple, keep it unique, and engage with people as opposed to selling them." I have found that people respond better, and Google responds better!......and when Google responds better, you have more people to engage with. Thanks for "keeping it real!"
Exactly! Especially if you're hiring a cheap one. Also, like some of the members mentioned, learning SEO is really not that hard and can be really beneficial for your business.
